Question 1

Is My Rent Splitter really 100% free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, My Rent Splitter is 100% free with no account or signup needed. Your financial figures stay completely private in your browser without any external database storage.

Question 2

How does the rent splitter calculate fair amounts?

Accepted Answer

Each bedroom gets a baseline valuation from its relative square footage, then adjusted with research-backed amenity factors: private full baths (+19%), master en-suites (+25%), walk-in closets (+11%), covered garage spots (+12%), or windowless deductions (-27% to -37%). Shared common space is divided equally per person.

Question 3

What is the difference between room size, equal, and income-based splitting?

Accepted Answer

Room-Weighted splits rent based on bedroom square footage and amenities. Equal Split divides total rent evenly per person. Income-Adjusted is a hybrid model (60% room features + 40% income capacity) that balances amenity value with earning capacities.

Question 4

How does the room rent splitter handle couples sharing a room?

Accepted Answer

When a bedroom is occupied by a couple, they share the private room cost, but their common space portion is multiplied by two. The calculator outputs both total room rent and exact per-person shares.

Question 5

Can I calculate utilities and move-in deposits as well?

Accepted Answer

Yes! My Rent Splitter includes a dedicated monthly Utilities Splitter and an upfront Move-In Deposit Calculator for first/last month and security deposits.
